Uncle Monte's House

Three lost roaches cross the unwelcome mat,
into its cold strange house:
cold to all abandoned and rejected roaches from the street,
warm to the strange, and their way of being,
their way of eating, and smoke blowing
from withered twisted lips.

During its mealtime table, square jaws in a family of giants flex,
while roaches look up to the feast.

Pass the lettuce and tomatoes.
Pass the carrots and spinach.

Square jaws of giants chomp slowly.

It's enough to make any decent roach sick.
