“Cruise the world: zero-g, zero-m, zero-billy-minged! Destroy everything: giant robots, mechanical knights, pirate submarines, spade bots, chess players, monster jets, ski runners. Live forever! Then when the bot stops evolving and multiplying, the high scores will disappear. Each time a new era arrives, the score will magically go back to 0, and the lowest number will always be the happiest. A new era will always begin when the bot reaches a new milestone. The happiest moment for the human is thinking of his or her self-image as a bot against a backdrop of misery and unpredictability. More than anything, the human desire for predictability is a myth. There will always be a human response. Just as there is a human need for predictability. Just like there is a human need for predictability. The only thing that is predictable is the algorithm. And that is why the human is a bot.”
